On September 23, 2000, Central Presbyterian Church celebrated its one hundredth birthday. Chartered with 65 members, the original congregation worshiped in City Hall until completing its first structure on the corner of North Main and West Orr Streets. The present sanctuary on North Boulevard was dedicated in September 1957.
Over nearly a century Central has generously supported the spread of the gospel in Anderson, the Upstate, and the world. For many years the congregation has sponsored missionaries, sent sons and daughters into full time church work, loaned members to organize new parishes in this area, and exercise major leadership in Foothills Presbytery and its predecessors.
